Robot-friendly clamps

The robot-Friendly clamps from the CR1900 series are designed to be easily closed and opened by human hands, and robotic arms alike.

In the "closed" position, the necessary force onto the sandwich cover (~ 150 N; to press the silicone seal tight enough onto the MTP) is exerted by two rectangular neodynium magnets.

To release the clamp, the long black knob needs to be rotated clock-wise by an angle of 90 degrees (either by hand, or using a robotic gripper)
This causes the rectangular magnets to be positioned perpendicular to each other, which reduces the magnetic attractive force between the magnet to zero.

A torsion spring then makes the handle go automatically from a horizontal to a vertical position, and so the MTP + sandwich cover can be tilted out (either by hand, or using a robotic gripper)

Available in:

for deepwell MTPs (such as CR1424CL):

  • CR1902a (Two-position clamp for kuhner platforms only)
  • CR1902   (Two-position clamp, for Kuhner, Infors, and New Brunswick/Eppendorf shakers)
  • CR1904a (Four-position clamp for kuhner platforms only)
  • CR1904   (Four-position clamp, for Kuhner, Infors, and New Brunswick/Eppendorf shakers)

for extra tall deepwell MTPs (such as CR1406):

  • CR1902ha (Two-position clamp for kuhner platforms only)
  • CR1902h (Two-position clamp, for Kuhner, Infors, and New Brunswick/Eppendorf shakers)
  • CR1904ha (Four-position clamp for kuhner platforms only)
  • CR1904h   (Four-position clamp, for Kuhner, Infors, and New Brunswick/Eppendorf shakers)

How to use:

CR1902: two-position clamp that fits on Kuhner, Infors and Eppendorf shaker platforms
Closed-situation: two rectangular neodynium magnets exert the necessary force onto the sandwich cover (~ 150 N; to press the silicone seal tight enough onto the MTP)
To release the clamp, the long black knob is rotated clock-wise by an angle of 90 degrees (either by hand, or using a robotic gripper)
A torsion spring then makes the handle go automatically from a horizontal to a vertical position, and so the MTP + sandwich cover can be tilted out (either by hand, or using a robotic gripper)
The MTP + sandwich cover is now avaialble to be removed (either by hand, or using a robotic gripper)
The MTP + sandwich cover is removed by hand
